Seeking a Paralegal

Do you want to help entrepreneurs be legally protected so they can focus on profit? We are an entrepreneurial business law firm and we need an experienced paralegal to join our team and work directly with the owners and attorneys to support the team and help our clients. We want to be known for helping our business clients navigate the law so they can confidently grow their own businesses. Motiva Business Law is a small, but growing law firm and we need a paralegal who can hit the ground running.

This position will be responsible for important work, including: 

  • Meets with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.
  • Drafts legal documents including routine pleadings and motions, affidavits, and interrogatories; files motions and pleadings according to judicial procedures
  • Researches and analyzes statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provides written analysis to attorneys.
  • Prepares, organizes, stores, and retrieves case files, which may include evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, exhibits, and other items.
  • Inputting information in the firm client relations software, organizing client and case information following up with potential clients, and calendaring/attorney schedule management.
  • Develops and maintains records regarding billable hours spent on specific cases.
  • Communicate with clients to gather information for client matter and assess client satisfaction
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Paralegal will be reporting to the attorney/owner of the firm.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with Google Workspace (formerly known as gsuite) 

It would be a huge extra benefit if you also had these skills: 

  • Familiar with most common legal software, specifically Clio and Lawmatics.
  • Familiar with using VOIP software.
  • Familiar with how to manage Facebook pages and groups.
  • Knowledge of how to post videos on YouTube.

We love to help people learn and grow. But we don’t have the time for that right now. We need a paralegal with experience in business law transactions and some litigation. The ideal candidate will be able to take initiative on work that needs to be done and complete tasks with minimal hand holding.


  • Associate degree in Paralegal Studies or related field required; Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies or related field preferred.
  • Paralegal certificate required.
  • Some related experience preferred. 


  • $20/hr for the first 30 days of employment the pay will be with opportunities for increase after that. There is an opportunity for bonus compensation for those who can demonstrate their profitability


This role will be part-time for hours of 10am-3pm Monday through Friday, with (likely) possibility to turn into full-time position. 


Oak Brook, Illinois. The Firm is open to a hybrid arrangement as well.

Working Conditions 

Paralegal will be provided laptop and accessories and will be working in a quiet office. EA may work at home when appropriate. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
